How to pack fine chemical in business transaction?

Understand the Chemical Properties

Know if it's hazardous, moisture-sensitive, light-sensitive, volatile, corrosive, etc.

Check if it needs temperature control (cold storage, dry ice, etc.).

Choose the Right Container

Glass bottles for solvents, acids, light-sensitive materials.

HDPE, PP, or PTFE containers for corrosive chemicals.

Aluminum bottles for air/moisture-sensitive materials.

Use sealed ampoules for ultra-sensitive materials.

Seal and Secure Properly

Inner seal (parafilm, screw caps, crimp seals).

Secondary containment: Put the primary container in a sealed bag (e.g., ziplock, mylar, vacuum seal).

Add absorbent materials if liquid (vermiculite, absorbent pads).

Outer Packaging

Use sturdy, chemical-resistant secondary packaging (like a certified UN box if hazardous).

Cushion with foam, bubble wrap, or vermiculite to avoid movement.

Label “Fragile,” “This Side Up,” and other relevant handling instructions.

Regulatory Compliance

Follow UN/ADR/IATA regulations for hazardous materials.

Include Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and necessary shipping documents.

Label clearly: chemical name, hazard class, pictograms, shipper/receiver info.

Shipping Conditions

For temperature control, use insulated shippers with dry ice, ice packs, or thermal blankets.

Track the shipment carefully if sensitive or high value.

Insurance & Documentation

Insure the shipment if it's valuable.

Keep records: Certificate of Analysis (CoA), Batch number, Lot number, Export documents if needed.

→ Pack in a crimp-sealed glass vial → Place vial inside a vacuum-sealed aluminum pouch → Put in a padded box with desiccant → Ship via courier specializing in hazardous materials → Include SDS and CoA.
