Calcium carbonate is an inorganic compound (CaCO3) commonly known as greystone, limestone, stone etc. Calcium carbonate is alkaline, basically insoluble in water, but soluble in acid. It is one of the common substances on earth, found in aragonite, calcite, chalk, limestone, marble, travertine and other rocks, and is also the main component of the bones or shells of some animals. Calcium carbonate is also an important building material with a wide range of industrial uses.

1. Light calcium carbonate: amorphous powder, tasteless, odorless. Slightly hygroscopic, stable in dry air, decomposed in acid. Heavy calcium carbonate: white powder, odorless and tasteless. Stable in the air. Almost insoluble water, slightly dissolved in water containing ammonium salt or iron trioxide. In case of dilute acetic acid, dilute acid and other bubbling and dissolution, heating to release carbon dioxide and generate calcium oxide. Its activity is greater than that of ordinary calcium carbonate and has reinforcing properties. Active calcium carbonate: easy to disperse in the rubber material, can improve the reinforcing property. Calcium carbonate can be divided into light calcium carbonate, heavy calcium carbonate and colloidal calcium carbonate. The particle size of light calcium carbonate is about 5μm.
2. Calcium carbonate whisker belongs to aragonite type structure, white powder. Needle-like or fibrous single crystal. It is a kind of fibrous material with good dispersion and uniform size. The whisker has a length-diameter ratio of 20 ~ 30 and a melting point of 759ºC. High strength, good heat insulation, good compatibility with resin.
